Revitalising aging underground infrastructure. Orogen partnered with the council to support the revitalisation of Main Street through a two-stage approach: first undertaking a comprehensive assessment of existing three-water infrastructure, then delivering detailed design for all required renewals and public realm upgrades. The project area includes critical underground assets including water supply mains dating back nearly a century, stormwater pipelines with evolving capacity requirements, and recently relined wastewater networks. Orogen produced 3D modelling, long sections, cross sections, utility coordination outputs, and engineering approval documentation.

Design outcomes and future-proofing. Water supply renewal design covered replacement of 355m of the 1928 steel main with 250mm PE100 SDR11, integrated renewal of laterals, meters and tobies, and early-stage watermain installation to protect new paving. Stormwater renewal design addressed structural repairs, defect remediation, manhole reconstruction, and future-proofing for potential upgrade to 750mm trunk mains. Utilities coordination was completed with telecommunications, electrical, and lighting providers to enable single-programme delivery minimising future excavation risk.
