CAREERS

We're building a team of pathfinders

If you care about doing great technical work, being trusted to get on with it, and working alongside people who genuinely know their craft - you might just belong here.
WHY OROGEN
What it's actually
like to work here
Orogen is a tight-knit team of around 30 licensed cadastral surveyors, chartered civil engineers, resource management planners, and environmental specialists, all under one roof. We work across Wellington, Kāpiti, Horowhenua, and Manawatū on land development, infrastructure, and construction projects that genuinely shape communities.

We are not a corporate. Senior staff are on projects, not in boardrooms. You will not be lost in a hierarchy or waiting for a graduate rotation to end before you get real responsibility. And because our disciplines work side by side every day, you will develop a breadth of knowledge that a single-discipline firm simply cannot offer.
  • Real projects from day one. No bench time. You will be working on live projects with real clients and real deadlines from the start.
  • Mentorship that works. Senior leaders actively mentor juniors — technical guidance, career advice, and regular feedback. We have a 100% track record of graduates achieving their Licensed Cadastral Surveyor qualification under our mentorship
  • No fixed templates. Every project gets a fresh approach. If you have a better way of doing something, we want to hear it.
  • Team continuity. You will see projects through from start to finish — which means you learn, you own the outcome, and the client knows your name
  • A practice built on doing things properly. We own our mistakes, fix them at our cost, and improve our process. That kind of accountability is rare and it makes for a better place to work

Don't see your role?
Some of our best hires have come from candidates who reached out speculatively. If you are a strong surveyor, civil engineer, planner, or environmental specialist looking for something different from your current firm, we are happy to have a conversation.

We are particularly interested in hearing from Licensed Cadastral Surveyors, CPEng civil engineers, resource management planners with RMA consent experience, and environmental practitioners with ESC or compliance management backgrounds.

Send a brief note about yourself and what you're looking for to careers@orogen.nz. No recruitment agencies please.
