Erosion & Sediment Control (ESC) asbuilt surveys confirm that the sediment control measures installed on an earthworks site have been built to the design specifications correct dimensions, volumes, and elevations. They are typically required by regional councils as a condition of earthworks consent and are a pre-requisite for bond release and project closeout.
Sediment control structures only perform as designed if they are built to the right dimensions. A retention pond that is too shallow, or a bund that is too low, may fail during a storm event. Regional councils require certified confirmation that these structures meet the design before they will release bonds or sign off the earthworks consent. Bonds don't release on goodwill they release on certified documentation.
Our surveyors work alongside our environmental team to measure the asbuilt dimensions of each control structure. For sediment retention ponds, we measure the constructed shape & levels to calculate storage volume and confirm spillway invert elevations. For diversion channels and bunds, we measure height, width, and gradient, then compare against the approved ESCP design criteria. Where structures meet requirements, we compile the asbuilt ESC report for council. Where a structure is underspecification, we document it and notify the contractor for remediation before resurveying. The final report is signed off by our certified environmental specialist a package that closes out the consent cleanly and gets bonds released.
